Default Ssuns (and Archipelagos) Duo Farming

While using a Monk primary version of MelechRic's Boss Farming build, Ssuns, Blessed of Dwayna taunted me every time I went out into Archipelagos. His Blessed Light just heals too much for me to deal with, so I set about trying to take him down. Absolutely could not do it solo, no matter what I tried, so I recruited a guildie to see what we could manage together, and I found success. Completely different from the build linked above, which is why it's a new thread. Both of us Mo/Me, him a Spirit Bonder, me with general utility which will be mentioned below. This is by no means the only/best way to do this, and I'm sure someone has already come up with a way to do this solo, but it completely eludes me thus far. I'm new at this farming thing, so there's probably something obvious staring me in the face and I just can't see it.

My skillbar is as follows:

In text:
Ignorance
Mend Ailment
Conjure Phantasm
Empathy
Migraine
Wastrel's Worry
Balthazar's Spirit
Essence Bond

Max out Domination and Illusion. All you need.

I don't have an image of my partner's, but it's as follows:

Prot Spirit
Spirit Bond
Ancestor's Visage
Sympathetic Visage
Essence Bond
Blessed Aura
Mantra of Resolve
Images of Remorse

Fairly standard SB tank. He has Remorse just to split some of the degen between us; all of the degen spells are by and large interchangeable.

Getting there:

Easy. Cast Balth Spirit and Essence Bond on the tank as soon as you enter the zone, and the tank should cast all his maintained enchantments on himself. I prefer to leave from Cavalon just for this run, as all of the patrols of Carp and friends stay well out of your way. Even if you do accidentally aggro one, just keep running; Siphon Speed is annoying, but they'll break off before they can do any real damage. For sake of ease, see maps below:

In position:

See that little wall there, separating Utility from Tank and all those red dots? That wall will be your best friend. The Utility should never go beyond that little wall.

The tank should grab the first patrol just beyond that wall, just to relieve some of the pressure when killing Ssuns, and pull it to the side opposite Utility, as the screenshot above shows. The Naga Archers are really finicky sometimes, but with practice it's pretty routine.

Degen the Archers to death. Stack Phantasm, Remorse, and Migraine, and spam Wastrel's Worry; even with Troll Unguent, they collapse in just a few seconds. They will occasionally get a Concussion Shot through on the tank, just Mend it off. Leave the Warriors alive, and you can kill the Ritualists if you want; if you don't, no big deal.

Now, the tank should go aggro Ssuns himself, and pull him to the exact same spot: he's pretty willing to come along. Tank positions himself right next to the Naga Monk, applies Mantra of Resolve, and cycles AV and SV, while maintaining PS and SB, of course. Keeping him drained of energy is vital, otherwise he'll just Blessed Light everything Utility puts on him.

Meanwhile, Utility applies Ignorance, and makes sure it STAYS on him. Ssuns sports three different signets--Purge, Rejuvenation, and Devotion--and Ignorance is a wonderful tool against him. Once he has no energy, and no signets, you may proceed to degen him to death. He puts up no fight.

Success! I should have gotten a screenshot of when he dropped his staff, but I didn't think to take one at the time.

This can also be used to kill Xiriss Stickleback (the Woe Spreader's decent, isn't it?), if either of you have the Night Raiders quest, since he spawns just behind Ssuns. Ssyn is also an easy target, since you're in the area, as well as Snapjaw Windshell.

My first farming thread. Be gentle; if there's a much, much easier way to do this, feel free to tell me.

Nice build.

Ssun eluded me too. I've tried using my solo build with differnt twists but he's just damn good a healing and hex removal.

At some point I thought about using the Shiro'ken farmer build that has made my monk fortunes. The problem with that is the damn Naga archers and their Concussion Shot spam. One daze and you're done. Even putting Mend Ailment on the bar doesn't help because you're holding serious aggro.

Well anyway, I'm glad to see it's been accomplished. Congrats!

EDIT: I may have to go after Xiriss. Believe it or not Ssesk has never dropped the Woe Spread for me.

Oh thank you thank you thank you! I'm waiting with baited breath. Especially since it's a divine spec staff w/ 20/20 to divine, and we all know how many pure divine builds there are running around.

Honestly, why did you even bother posting this? So everyone would know you've got a solo build? Goodie for you.
